Article #1: A-WOL Inks deal with BWCS & HardBallers
Includes transcript of post conference Q&A session
April 19, 2007

Get ready Boston, co-ed softball as you know is about to change. In a recent press conference, Andy “A-WOL” Wolan announced that he has signed a one-year deal with the Boston West Co-Ed Softball League. Under the agreement, Andy and his writing staff (aka “The Traveling Circus”) will setup shop in the greater Boston area, and will be covering a select Sunday-league co-ed team. In addition, Andy will become the official league photographer of the BWCS League.

As of this writing, A-WOL has just announced that he has signed a deal with the newly formed team “The HardBallers”. With the team facing a pitching shortage, team skipper Nicole Corbett drafted A-WOL to become the team’s starting pitcher.

Below is a transcript of the Q&A session following the announcement:

Q: Could you tell us briefly how this deal came about?

A: After running a team website that was considered “taboo” to the league for 3 years, I figured it was time to join a league that would appreciate what I had to offer off the field. The BWCS league commissioner and I had a lengthy discussion about softball, the league and my past experience. Not only did he convinced me that the league would appreciate my work, but he also put his money where his month was and named me the official league photographer. This is a sharp 180 degree flip from the viewpoint of my former league commissioner, and I’m excited to hear that.

Q: What is meant by this “Traveling Circus”?

A: It refers to my uncanny ability to be a softball player, a photographer, a statistician, and a reporter at a game all at the same time. In addition, it also refers to my knack to somehow induce a side show that leads to some interesting discussions on the website.
The term was coined by the former staff writer “Michael Corbett”, and is a modification of the name “Monty Python’s Flying Circus”.

Q: Corbett? Is this Michael Corbett person related to Coach Corbett?

A: No. The fact that they share the same last name is just a coincidence; A very ironic coincidence at that. I bet Michael Corbett would get a laugh at this!

Q: So, will the Corbett Report be making a comeback?

A: I’ll leave that up to Coach Corbett.

Q: What do you think are the team’s chances in the playoffs?

A: Ah, playoffs?!? Don’t talk about, playoffs? You kidding me? Playoffs? The season hasn’t started and you already want to talk about, playoffs? Next question.

Q What if other teams disapprove of the team website?

A: They can always start their own site, can’t they? And if they think they can do a better job, they can go ahead and show me how to do it right.

Q: Is it true that you were offered your own team in the league?

A: Yes, and I declined. Because I don’t have the time required to make such a commitment.

Q: What are your thoughts about being the starting pitcher?

A: I’m exciting. I just hope that I don’t let my team down
